Peter McWorkman
Athlete of the Month
We are fortunate to have amazing athletes at 619 San Diego Personal Training and honored to have Pete as our Athlete of the Month. Pete’s consistency, hard work, and team spirit make him a staple around the box. He is welcoming to every member and always supportive of everyone’s goals. There is not one class where Pete is not pushing himself to become a better athlete.
We can thank Sarah, Pete’s wife, and a country singer for introducing him to 619 San Diego Personal Training. He was already active before joining the box, but nothing compared to where he is now. Although he is not competitive with Sarah, 619 San Diego Personal Training is a passion they both share and support each other’s successes. Pete works out with the early risers, the 5 a.m. crew and knows that not showing up would raise red flags and probably a 5 a.m. search party. He loves the energy of the class and the athletes he works out with. You can also catch Pete at the box on Saturday mornings and one day you will even see him compete with the masters!
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED?
I really wasn’t getting anywhere with my program and kidded myself that I was in good shape. One day something that was said to me about some country singer that kept in shape. He was my age (48 at the time) and was in the best shape of his life. I committed in a moment to try it for one year and see if it would work for me too. I googled 619 San Diego Personal Training in San Diego and 619 San Diego Personal Training 619 was the first one that came up. I called and made an appointment for an introduction session for that same day. I’ve never left nor felt like I would get any better anywhere else.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST WOD/EXPERIENCE?
“MURPH” I went to support my wife (Sarah). I smoked a cigar that morning and had a cup of coffee and we went and did the Memorial Day Murph. I completed it in about and hour. I recall being very, very sore for almost a week and had a difficult time moving.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE 619 San Diego Personal Training WITH LIFE?
I leave the house before anyone else is awake, I try to get to bed early when I can and prioritize my fitness as part of my day. The truth is I somewhat obsess on it and don’t like to miss my regular sessions to where I now plan meetings around my fitness schedule, not the other way around. I’m very lucky to have that freedom, but I’ve found that morning fitness and seeing the same people every morning can have a positive impact on me that can last the rest of the day.
It’s just what I do these days.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?
When I landed my first ring muscle-up was HUGE! And beyond something I ever thought possible. But also, the life style has changed my body and the way it looks and the way I feel.
I have made many remarkable changes not all physical, but the way I think and view health and fitness. And not lastly, but getting off of cholesterol medication after ten years. Thanks Chris!

FITNESS GOALS?
1) To be able to take our kids in a fist fight until we get them all old enough, independent and moved out of the house
2) To be able to still enjoy activities like snowboarding with our children for many more years.
3) To live a healthy non destructive life style
4) And an invitation to the masters qualifier round at some point would be pretty sweet.
